Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz. She was born within Winona Minnesota. She was named by her parents for the town where she grew in. Michel Horowitz is her father and Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder is Jewish. Ryder believes that her father came from a Jewish background. The actress also has a half-sister, Sunyata Jubal. Ryder's younger sibling is Uria. Ryder's parents relocated her and their children in Mendocino County California when Ryder turned seven. The family lived in a place without electric power. Ryder began to be a committed book reader because there was no television. Ryder started taking acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre when she reached the age of 12.
